Miguel Torga , pseudonym of Adolfo Correia da Rocha, was one of the most influential poets and writers of the 20th century, in Portugal . Was born in São Martinho de Anta in 1907 and was buried here 88 years later. He lived in Coimbra, where he studied and practiced Medicine, but his passion was the literature. In his works, Miguel Torga has always claimed himself a lover of the lands of Trás-os-Montes and Douro, regions that have been exalted and immortalized in his literary work. Visiting these places on the dates of his birth (12 August) and death (17 January), will have a special meaning.
